Our Story -
Bring life to STEM learning, classical and cultural stories and their language in the ever changing digital age
In today's world of games, movies, television shows, and comics, children have become accustomed to being entertained. Unfortunately, children often times place this standard on their learning. As a result, if the subject matter is presented in a format that is not as entertaining, such as by teachers or through texts or other methods, the children may not be interested.
In addition, there are various ways in which children learn. For instance, some children are more visual, others verbal, others need hands-on experience, i.e., touching, doing and moving. In addition, some children take longer to grasp subject matter than others and may need the information transmitted more than once to retain and fully comprehend the information potentially due to learning disabilities and learning in a non-native tongue.
Also, schoolchildren come from various nations, race, tongues, economic backgrounds along with the parental makeup. As such, some parents are able to help their children directly or indirectly through hiring tutors or paying for additional classes, with there schoolwork whereas others cannot. Often times, minorities and the underprivileged do not have the parental assistance, as well as the technological resources available to them, to help them learn outside the classroom.
All of these factors along with the unfortunate truth that children and adults around the world, including the United States of America, struggle to read, write and apply math to daily situations encouraged our founders, Kimberly and Corine, to found BrightCores to bring life to learning and preserve classics and cultures in the ever changing digital age.
Our History
Kimberly and Corine, a daughter/mother team, founded BrightCores in June of 2014 after searching for a gift for our grandniece/great granddaughter. We have always believed in the power of education and the opportunities it can provide. So it is often not a surprise when our gift recipients receive some type of educational toy or tool. In our search for our gift, we were looking at books and found a talking book. It was at that time that we reminisced about our childhoods and our love for books. It was during this time that we also discussed the factors noted above in "Our Story" that make learning a challenge. Then it came to us, what if we could make the books come alive like they did for us when we were children by bringing life to learning and preserving classics and cultures in the ever changing digital age?
And that is how we embarked on our journey. It has taken awhile, but in July of 2016, we began pre-production on one animated, short film, e-book app about a courageous little animal that will introduce children to a variety of animals; their habits and habitat; qualities of courage an inquisitiveness; and concepts of caring and loyalty. Expected launch date is in 2017.
